Happy Birthday to me
This week marks three years of blogging.
Three years!
Crazy how time flies.
In that time, I think it’s fair to say that my blogging output has been… inconsistent, at best.
The first year was filled with that typical new blogger enthusiasm, and I pumped out a reasonable number of articles.
I lost motivation/interest in the second year, so my output decreased accordingly.
To my surprise, I found a renewed interest at the beginning of the third year, and ended up posting something just about every week.
Most of those were part of my new Wednesday Reads series, where I imitated/copied Monevator, Physician on FIRE, etc, and compiled some of my favourite articles over the past week along with a short intro about whatever happened to be in my mind at the time.
Apparently, my writing is as cyclical as the markets. Regular readers might have noticed that the Wednesday Reads posts are no longer quite so weekly. Chalk this up partly to a lack of motivation, and partly a conscious decision to spend my time elsewhere.
I still enjoy reading blog posts and writing whenever inspiration hits, but I’ve been spending more time recently studying for the first of several financial planning exams, which has cut into the time I would usually spend on the blog.
So, rather than worry about posting something every week, I’m going to scale it back for now. My aim is to keep the blog ticking along with a Wednesday Reads post once a month whilst I focus on studying, and see how things look in a few months’ time.
Before leaving you with the usual links, I want to say thank you to anyone and everyone who has read, commented, or shared my posts, and to everyone that I’ve interacted with over these past three years.
The community and engagement plays a big part in my enjoyment of this somewhat weird hobby of personal finance blogging. Otherwise, why stick it on the internet in the first place?
Thanks again for reading. Hope you enjoy the following links, and I’ll hopefully see you next month.

Congratulations on reaching the three year mark! That is an achievement worth celebrating, not many PF bloggers last that long.
Thanks, Indeedably!
Congrats Doc on the three years milestone! I am like you, motivation to blog comes and goes. I do have a few ideas I’d like to write about, but I never seem to sit down, do the research and put it all together in post. In a way, I am lucky I enjoy counting the numbers every month, otherwise there would no longer be onemillionjourney.com.
All the best with your exams!
Thank you Tony! Not long until you hit the three year mark yourself :).
Err, happy belated anniversary in August! For some reason, this update didn’t appear on any of my feeds – hope all’s well.
Thank you Weenie! All is good here. I’ve just been catching up on your latest update, and it looks like things are generally going well with you, which is good to hear!
