Hello! And welcome to my blog, and my first post.
I’m in my early 30’s, living and working in the UK and aspiring to become financially free. I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for the last few months but kept on putting it off and procrastinating. I’ve finally started to bite the bullet and just start. I have three main reasons for starting this blog:
1) I want to get more involved in the UK personal finance / FIRE community. I’ve learned a lot from reading various blogs, and it is apparent that there are a lot of very driven, knowledgeable people around! So, I wanted to try to be more proactive in reaching out and learning even more. I’m hoping that getting more involved in the PF/FIRE community will help to inspire me during the long road ahead and will help give me ideas on everything from my career, making money, starting businesses and just life in general.
2) Following on from 1, as I said, I’ve learned a lot. So, I wanted to give something back, and maybe try to help out others in a similar position to me. Plus, even though there are a huge number of PF/FIRE blogs out there, I think it’s important for new ones to keep coming through. Why? Because I think that, as more of the current crop of PF/FIRE bloggers reach FI, it’s useful to read about the experiences of people still in the beginning stages.
3) I also wanted to start this blog to challenge myself. Every time I think about writing up a post, I get that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach. The thought of putting myself out there, even somewhat anonymously, is not something that I am typically comfortable with. I am very much an introvert, and very much don’t enjoy being the centre of attention. Don’t get me wrong, I like hanging out with people and socialising, but I’m typically much more at home in small groups, rather than huge parties. So, I decided to ignore all my usual impulses and just do it. What’s the worst that could happen? (That’s a rhetorical question, don’t answer that).
So yes, welcome once again. If you’ve stumbled across this blog, feel free to leave a comment and say hello.

Welcome to the personal finance blogging community. I look forward to connecting with you further on Twitter.
Hi Andrea. Thank you for the warm welcome!
Looking forward to more!
Congrats on starting the blog!
Blogging is probably the most introverted form of communication you can do so I wouldn’t worry too much about that? I would imagine >50% of bloggers are actually introverts to some degree at least.
Looking forward to reading more… Cheers
Thanks! You are right, blogging is as anonymous as you want it to be, but it still felt like a bigger deal than it actually was when I published that first post! Still, I’ve gotten used to it pretty quickly and it doesn’t really bother me any more. It helps that plenty of people, including yourself, are very welcoming!
